| Alaska
is served by many major airlines. You will have no problem getting
to Alaska via a commercial airline flight from any part of the world
directly into Anchorage International Airport. If you live near
a major city, you may even be able to catch a direct flight into
Anchorage.
Chelatna Lake Lodge is
located one-hundred scenic miles northwest of Anchorage, less than
an hour's flight away. The fishing lodge is accessible only by airplane;
there are no roads to our property. This not only keeps our lodge
exclusively for our clients, but allows you a perfect opportunity
to experience a “real Alaska Bush experience” before
you even set foot at the lodge! You may either hire an air-taxi
in Anchorage to fly you directly to the lodge, or you may choose
to depart from Talkeetna via air-taxi, about a twenty-five minute
air flight.
Whether
you leave from Anchorage or Talkeetna, your flight will cover some
of the most breathtaking scenery in the world. On a clear day, you
will see majestic Mount McKinley, North America's tallest peak,
and the breathtaking thirty-five mile long Kahiltna Glacier ice
field of Denali National Park, as well as unnamed mountains, lakes
and rivers too numerous to count. In less than an hour, your air-taxi
will deliver you right to our doorstep on the shore of Chelatna
Lake.
Air-taxis are
numerous in both Anchorage and Talkeetna, and the lodge is happy
to arrange an air-taxi flight to bring you to our fishing lodge.
Please check our “Links”
page for recommendations for air-taxis. Standard check-in and check-out
time at the lodge is 11:30 am.
If you wish to fly to
the lodge in your own aircraft, we can accommodate either wheeled
aircraft on our adjacent 1400 foot gravel airstrip, or float-equipped
aircraft on eight-mile long Chelatna Lake. Prior arrangements must
be made with the lodge.
In our experience, it
is the most convenient for our guests to arrive in Anchorage the
night before coming to the lodge. This allows for extra time in
case there are any delays due to airline schedules or weather. There
are a number of fine hotels in Anchorage and we will be happy to
suggest some to help you find one that suits your needs. Many of
the hotels have free shuttle vans that will you bring you directly
to the air-taxi’s door on Lake Hood in Anchorage.
